SPEED GUNS
This is a self-calibrating device.
It is supplied with a tuning fork to verify the speedgun accuracy. Ideal for professional coaching or whenthe speedgun displayed results need to be verified.
This speed gun does not need to be re-calibrated and does not come with a calibration certificate for the speed gun.
Not for use on public roads or by law enforcement.
INCLUDES
with a tuning fork and a certificate of accuracy.
The Bushnell Velocity speed gun (Model 101911) is a factory-calibrated, handheld radar device. Like other modern radar speed guns, the Velocity is self-calibrating and does not require routine recalibration or annual servicing during normal use. Velocity speed guns are calibrated at factory level when they are manufactured.
Each time the unit is switched on, the internal electronics perform automatic checks.
Bushnell Velocity speed guns are not supplied with individual calibration certificates from the factory.
As with all radar speed measurement devices, accurate results depend on correct use. Readings can be influenced by factors such as aiming angle, target selection, operator handling, and surrounding conditions, including weather and electrical interference. It is recommended to aim the speed gun directly in front of or behind the object being measured.
When used according to the manufacturer’s instructions, the Bushnell Velocity Model 101911 provides accurate and repeatable speed readings. As described in the manufacturer’s instructions, the Bushnell Velocity is a point-and-shoot radar gun designed for sports enthusiasts and similar speed measurement applications. It is not intended for legal enforcement of traffic regulations on public roads.
Verification of Accuracy (Tuning Fork Test)
The accuracy of the Velocity speed gun is verified using the certified radar tuning fork supplied with the device, which is the industry-standard method for confirming operational accuracy. We recommend performing this test at least daily, ideally before and after each period of use, and keeping a record of these tests. This is to confirm that the device is displaying accurate readings, ideal for coaching and other records.
The tuning fork is manufactured to a fixed frequency and, unless it is physically damaged, that frequency does not change. For this reason, the tuning fork certificate does not expire. A tuning fork calibrated in 2020 is still accurate in 2026 if it has not been damaged.
The supplied tuning fork is set to produce a reading of approximately 57 km/h. When struck correctly against a non-metallic surface and held in front of the radar unit, it will display the same speed on all correctly functioning Bushnell Velocity Model 101911 units.
Physical damage or incorrect striking technique can affect the speed reading. If a tuning fork shows signs of damage, it should be replaced. The certification date (month or year) on the tuning fork certificate does not impact the accuracy of the speed gun or the fork itself, as the frequency remains stable unless the fork is physically damaged. For example, a Velocity sold in March 2026 may be supplied with a tuning fork certified in September 2025; this date difference is not relevant and does not affect the accuracy of either device.
